Origami

Since I was a little child watching my grandfather folding paper animals for me, I have been fascinated by the Art of Origami. As a Collage Artist I like the attention to and appreciation of paper as a medium expressed in the practice, I like the knowledge that japanese monks in the 13th even did ritual foldings. 
Also – starting with my participation in Contemporay Collage Magazines G.F. Smith Challenge – I have been experimenting with making three-dimensional paper objects, photographing them and putting them back in two-dimensional Collages. 
While cleaning out my mother in laws house, I found stacks of brittle yellowed paper, old floor plans – and a book on Origami: This is how the series started. According to a japanese legend, anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods. Maybe I can reach that with making a thousand Origami Collages …
